Expecting Solo

A Course for Women in the Earliest Stages of Solo Motherhood

You’ve made the bravest decision of your life. Now what?

You’re taking the leap (or just about to).
Now you’re wondering… what happens next?

Whether you’re days from insemination or blinking at two pink lines, this course is your essential guide to navigating the emotional, logistical, and physical whirlwind of the first trimester—specifically designed for solo mums by choice.

This isn’t generic pregnancy advice. It’s a supportive, realistic roadmap created just for you.

This course is for you if:

  • You’re about to begin trying (with IUI, IVF, or AI) and want to understand what to expect once you’re successful

  • You’re newly pregnant and feeling overwhelmed, excited, terrified—or all of the above

  • You don’t know who to talk to about symptoms, emotions, or the avalanche of early decisions

  • You’re going through this without a partner and craving connection, context, and clarity

  • You want guidance from someone who’s been there and gets the unique solo mum experience

What you’ll learn inside the course:

Whether you’ve just seen two pink lines or are preparing to try, this course is your roadmap through the confusing, emotional, and magical early stages of solo motherhood. You’ll learn what’s normal, what to expect, how to plan ahead—and how to protect your energy and mindset as you grow your baby on your own terms.

  • Learn what’s actually normal in the first trimester—from symptoms and scans to emotional rollercoasters. You’ll walk away feeling informed, less alone, and more connected to your changing body and mind.

  • Get support in deciding when to tell people, who to tell, and how to manage awkward, invasive or insensitive questions. You’ll also explore scripts and strategies for protecting your energy and boundaries.

  • Understand how to create your support system when there’s no partner by your side. We’ll help you identify emotional, practical and medical support options that make solo pregnancy less overwhelming and more empowering.

  • From scans to early tests (like the 12-week scan and NIPT), learn what to expect and how to advocate for yourself at each stage. We’ll also cover choosing your model of care and getting ready for your next steps.

  • Create a pregnancy vision that feels right for you. We’ll help you set intentions, explore solo mum mindset tools, and make simple plans to support your wellbeing, balance, and joy—starting now.

What you’ll walk away with…

This course isn’t just about information—it’s about confidence, clarity, and feeling truly supported.

By the end of Expecting Solo, you’ll walk away with:

  • A deeper understanding of your body, symptoms, and what’s normal in early pregnancy

  • Emotional tools to help you manage anxiety, doubts, and unexpected reactions

  • Strategies to protect your energy and prepare for scans, appointments, and sharing your news

  • Practical planning tips for the juggle ahead—leave, support, finances, and more

  • A clear vision for your pregnancy and the solo motherhood journey ahead

  • A sense of connection, encouragement, and reassurance that you are not alone

You’re not just pregnant—you’re stepping into the most powerful chapter of your life. And you don’t have to do it alone.

Learn from someone who’s lived it

I’m Alisha — Founder of Solo Mum Society, solo mum by choice, podcast host, author, professional coach and your course facilitator.

When I finally saw those two pink lines, I thought I’d feel nothing but joy. Instead, I felt a strange mix of disbelief, exhaustion, and total overwhelm.

I hadn’t prepared for what came next—how to tell people, how to respond to the awkward questions, or how to share my story in a way that felt empowering. In fact, when I did start telling people, it didn’t sound like the strong, confident decision I knew it was. It felt messy, vulnerable, and unfiltered.

No one around me really got it. And I wasn’t prepared for how physically and emotionally intense the first trimester would be, especially doing it solo.

This course was created to give you the support I wish I’d had: not just about symptoms and scans, but how to feel grounded in your decision, confident in your story, and connected to other women who truly understand.

You don’t need a partner to feel supported, you just need a plan that works for you, and someone who’s walked this road before.

Let me help you feel ready.

What other women are saying:

  • I have followed the great community Alisha has built online for sometime. I recently took part in the ‘Expecting Solo’ course as I begin my SMBC journey. The content Alisha provided helped me think through the different scenarios I may encounter and provided practical advice. The supportive environment she created in the course group plus through the Bump membership has been invaluable in helping me feel confident and less alone in the journey.
