Can’t make this live intake or prefer to learn at your own pace?
You don’t need another generic pregnancy checklist
You can Google what to pack in a hospital bag. You can ask ChatGPT how many nappies a newborn uses. Your antenatal class can teach you about labour, feeding and newborn care.
What most of that information doesn’t help you work out is how it all applies when you’re the only parent.
Who will be with you at hospital? Who gets you home? What happens if you have a C-section? Who can actually help once baby arrives? What do you want visitors to do — and what will just create more work? What needs to be ready at home? What can wait?
How will you make nights, food, laundry, appointments and recovery more manageable when there isn’t another parent automatically sharing the load?
That’s where Preparing for Solo Motherhood is different.
It helps you take all the information out there and turn it into a plan for your actual life.
What past participants say
“Completing this course supported me in ways I didn’t even realise I needed. Having everything viewed through the lens of a solo mum made me feel truly seen — especially in a world where so much information is designed for two-parent families.
The biggest surprise was the connection. I met incredible expectant mums in my group, and we’re still in touch, sharing wins and supporting each other as we move through motherhood together.”
— Amanda - Preparing for Solo Motherhood graduate
By the end, you won’t just know more. You’ll have worked out how your version of this is going to work.
You’ll have thought through the decisions that are much easier to make before you’re exhausted, recovering and holding a newborn.
You’ll be clearer on:
who you want supporting you around birth and hospital
what you need in place if your recovery is harder than expected
where your practical support will come from once you’re home
what actually needs to be organised before baby arrives — and what really doesn’t
how you want to handle visitors, boundaries and offers of help
where the gaps are in your village and what your backup plans are
the practical systems that can make everyday life easier once you’re the default parent from day one
This isn’t about creating the perfect plan.
It’s about being able to think:
“I’ve thought this through. I know what matters. And I know what I’m going to do.”
What we’ll work through together
Birth & hospital
Preparing for birth without a partner, choosing the right support person, thinking through hospital logistics and considering what happens if your birth or recovery doesn’t go to plan.
Recovery & coming home
Postpartum recovery, C-section realities, getting home from hospital, food, rest, practical help and what those first days might realistically look like.
Life with your newborn
Newborn care, feeding, sleep expectations, visitors, boundaries and setting up your home so everyday life is easier once baby arrives.
Your solo-mum systems
Building and using your village, managing the mental load, finances and admin, childcare, returning to work and putting support in place before you desperately need it.
“Now that my baby is here, I’ve relied on many of the key takeaways — Alisha’s tips and tricks have saved me on a number of occasions. I felt prepared for my transition to motherhood and made friendships that now form my support network.”
— Lindsay - Preparing for Solo Motherhood graduateThe live course gives you something the internet can’t
The information matters.
But some of the most valuable moments in this course happen when someone asks a question you hadn’t even thought of yet.
Or when you hear how another expectant solo mum is approaching the same decision differently.
Or when you get to ask:
“Okay, but what would you do in my situation?”
The live group is deliberately small so there’s room for conversation, questions and real-life scenarios — not just me talking at you for hours.
Join the live group if you want:
the chance to ask questions about your own circumstances
practical guidance rather than just information
discussion around decisions that don’t have one “right” answer
real-world examples from other solo mums
to hear questions and ideas you may not have thought about yourself
to meet women preparing for motherhood at the same time as you
And sometimes, as Amanda found, those connections continue long after the course finishes.

Not sure whether October is the right timing for where you’re at in pregnancy?
Email me and tell me roughly how far along you are. I’ll tell you whether I think this intake is right for you.
Guided by lived experience - not theory
I created this course because I’ve stood where you may be standing now — preparing for birth, postpartum and life with a newborn without a partner.
I know what it feels like to approach motherhood carrying both enormous excitement and the awareness that you’re going to be the constant.
Beyond my own experience of pregnancy, birth and solo motherhood, I’ve spent years supporting women through this transition and hearing the same practical questions come up again and again.
This course isn’t here to promise you certainty or perfection.
It’s here to help you think things through while you still have the time and headspace to do it.
So when your baby arrives, you’re not trying to make every important decision for the first time while exhausted and recovering.

Need more flexibility?
The live course isn’t the right fit for everyone.
If you’re outside Australia, the Melbourne time zone doesn’t work for you, your pregnancy timing doesn’t line up with the next live intake, or you simply prefer to learn privately and at your own pace, Preparing for Solo Motherhood is also available On-Demand.
The On-Demand version is designed so you can:
start immediately
work through the lessons whenever suits you
binge the content or take it slowly
pause and revisit lessons as often as you need
access practical tools and downloadable resources
learn from anywhere in the world
It covers the core Preparing for Solo Motherhood content, but does not include live discussion, personal Q&A or the connection that comes from learning alongside a group of expectant solo mums.

And support doesn’t disappear once your baby arrives
Preparing for Solo Motherhood is one part of the journey.
Once baby arrives, Solo Mum Society is there for the next chapter too.
Through the Solo Mum Society Membership, you can stay connected with other solo mums through regular Connection Calls, smaller community groups, expert sessions and ongoing support as your child grows.
Because preparation matters.
But having people around you once you’re actually living it matters too.
Frequently asked questions:
Is this course only for women in Australia?
The live course includes some Australia-specific information, particularly around systems such as Centrelink.
The On-Demand course is designed to work for a more global audience and focuses on the parts of preparing for solo motherhood that apply regardless of where you live.
When should I take this course?
Most women take Preparing for Solo Motherhood in the later stages of pregnancy, but there isn’t one perfect week to start.
If your pregnancy is feeling real and you’re starting to think seriously about birth, recovery, bringing baby home and how everyday life will work, you’re likely at the right stage.
If you’re unsure, email me and tell me roughly how far along you are.
Does this replace antenatal classes or medical advice?
No.
This course focuses on solo-specific preparation, support, practical planning and decision-making.
It complements your medical care and antenatal education rather than replacing them.
What’s the difference between Live and On-Demand?
The core Preparing for Solo Motherhood content is covered in both.
Choose Live if you want to ask questions, learn through discussion, hear other women’s experiences and meet other expectant solo mums.
Choose On-Demand if flexibility matters more to you and you’d prefer to work through the content privately, whenever and wherever suits you.
What if I can’t attend a live session?
Life happens, especially during pregnancy. Live sessions can be recorded if all attendees agree, so if you can’t attend one you’ll still be able to catch up afterwards. You’ll get the most from the course if you can attend live, particularly because the discussion and connection are such an important part of the experience.
I haven't organised much yet. Am I too late?
No. You don’t need to arrive with a perfect birth plan, village or postpartum setup. That’s the point of the course. We’ll work through what matters, where your gaps are and what is worth putting in place before baby arrives.
We start Tuesday
If you’re due later this year and keep thinking:
“I really need to start getting organised for bringing this baby home…”
this is your chance to work through it now, while you have the space to think about what you want those first weeks to look like.
You don’t need every answer.
You don’t need the perfect plan.
But you can give your future self the gift of having thought through the things that matter most.
